Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third-person shooter video game developed by High Moon Studios and published by Activision. It was released on June 22, 2010 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. Two portable versions were released for the Nintendo DS. A game for the Wii called Transformers: Cybertron Adventures was developed by Next Level Games and utilizes the same characters and setting as War for Cybertron. Hasbro also has a toy line releasing in 2010 based on War for Cybertron. The multiplayer demo was released on June 10, 2010 and allows players to experience either "Soldier" or "Scout" class warriors.

Gameplay
Transformers: War for Cybertron is a third person shooter that takes place prior to the Transformers: Prime animated series, when the Transformers still lived on the fictional machine planet Cybertron. The game has two distinct campaigns, one for each faction. The story of the Decepticon campaign is a prelude to the Autobot campaign's story. Both campaigns can be played in single-player or cooperatively via online multiplayer, and can drop in or out of the game at any time. Each campaign level features three playable Transformers. If fewer than three players are present, the game's AI controls the remaining playable characters.

Plot
The plot of Transformers: War for Cybertron is set long before the events of the Transformers: Prime television series. It begins with the Decepticon campaign, though players can choose to begin with the Autobot campaign and return to the Decepticon campaign later. In the Decepticon campaign Megatron is fighting to return Cybertron to his version of the "golden age", using means he considers necessary. In the first chapter, Megatron discovers a source of all-powerful dark energon guarded by none other than Starscream and his research station. Megatron tries to capture it and Starscream tries to dissuade him by attacking him and predicting grim outcomes. After destroying all of Starscream's defences, Megatrons immerses himself in the dark energon and, to Starscream's susprise, survives the encounter. Later, when Megatron meets Starscream, Starscream asks Megatron to teach him how to use dark energon in return for his service to Megatron. Shocked by this, Starscream's collegue Jetfire escaped the space station.

In the Autobot campaign the Autobot leader, Zeta Prime, has been killed and Optimus temporarily takes up the mantle of leadership. He begins recruiting new transformers to the Autobot cause to fight Megatron and the Decepticons. The Autobot campaign begins with Optimus, Bumblebee and Ratchet defending their home city of Iacon. Bumblebee tells Optimus that Zeta Prime is dead. Optimus, Ratchet and Bumblebee then proceed to defend Iacon by activiating the planetary guns. Afterwards they must re-activate the communication grid and defend the decagon from Decepticons. After reaching the decagon, the three autobots fight Starscream.

Just started to play.
So far so good.

I heard that this is one of the better Transformer games, which doesn't carry much weight seeing as how the other's were terrible.
Still, most movie-to-game adaptations are less than mediocre, like the AVATAR game. Not so sure about game-to-movie adaptations though.

So...I finished the first part of the game...and it's good.

Really good, not awsome, but good.
Art-design is cool but looks kind of simmilar to Gears of War 2.
70% of weapons look almost the same BUT if you look closer, you'll see all this smal ,mechanic parts moving and doing something.) Looks cool.
Autobots and Desepticons have almost simmilar bots BUT then again (look above)) (someone jokes on this topic during the second mission)
Some have cools legs, someone have cool arms or morph form.
Nice music and pretty steady gun effects.
SFX good to.
Here comes the downside.
You can carry only 2 weapons.
There are few skills...and they look prety much alike.
You can create your character ONLY in multiplayer (so no RPG elemnts in single)
Oh, and no free runnig around.

So far, this is the best game in transformers series.
Good in all aspects.
Not The greatest plot, but still acceptable.
If you are willing to try, try it.
P.S The coolest bot is Brakedown, yeah!)

I'm giving this a solid 'meh'.

Yeah, the graphics are pretty good, and for a 'Transformers' game, it's easily the best of a bad bunch. The negative ? It's just really shallow. Real run and gun gameplay, no cover mechanics, no real tactics. Run, shoot, repeat. I'm not really feeling this one.

I agree, it's a bit...boring.
But try to set a new background music...like death metal, or power and will have some...attractivness)
After all, for a 3 and half hours length game it's normal.
And...i just love mech games.)
