| I played this game a while ago at my cousin's place, and I loved it... Just a few days ago I was back at my cousin's place and borrowed it from him, and was playing it over the last two days, and finished it! This is a truly fantastic game in my opinion, it's fresh, it's new, everything about it's just really fun (especially free running!) :D What do you guys think of it? I know it's a game that people either love or hate, so I wanna know your opinion... :) | |

| I like it quite a bit, but the storyline forcing me where to go certainly didn't add to the fun. I would have liked some sort of free roaming, even if it might mean more trial and error to get to different destinations. Then there might have been more variety in locations. The level design is either basically just rooftops and maintenance rooms most of the time, but they're a bit more likable since they aren't all a boring brown and grey. | |

| Faggot.
Anyway Mirror's Edge is the best free running game ever. Even though it's not free running. It's just running. Still, BEST. |

| I've gotta agree, there should be more of a free-roaming aspect to the game, and it would be near perfect... A Mirror's Edge 2 has been announced, apparently, so hopefully there's more free-roaming to come... And what's with the 'Faggot' at the beginning of your reply, art? | |

| I don't know what to say about MEdge... I could't force myself to finish it. In the beginning it was like - "Hell yeah! It was great. But after about 6 missions...it started to get boring. Same jumps, same rooftops, same enemies, same idea. I knew that this blonde chick was a traitor since the moment i saw her, so no big surprises for me. Still, the game is unique in it's kind. Someone can say - "Booo, AC2 is better" or "MEdge is a Prince of Persia without penis"...don't listen to them. Surly all this games have this jumping/falling/rolling/acting as a hamster on coffee, but they are different. It's all about the atmosphere. The sense of time and place, where you game world is based. So, if you are comlete PoP fan and like sand, you might be dissapointed, coz no penis...i mean the dagger of time. If you are an AC fan and like Venice, you might be dissapointed to - no backstabing for you boy. MEdge is far from perfect, but it's solid good. | |

| It's been said before but I'll say it again - the game was fucked up by the combat.
The game was a pretty brave attempt to do something different with the platform genre (namely putting it in first person) and for the most part it worked. People thought, "How can I make tricky jumps without seeing my character's feet ?", but it was all pretty fluid and worked better than I'd expected.
Then there was the shitty, shitty combat. I agree that free-roaming would've been good, but it also might have made it a lot more difficult. As it is it has pretty tightly-designed levels.
And shitty combat. | |

And shitty combat. That's what the time trials were for. They were the bulk of the game. |

Well put, Casted, especially the bit about PoP without a penis! XD

Yeah, but you have to complete certain levels to unlock the time trials... So, yeah... Also, what's so bad about the combat? I don't understand cause I don't find much wrong with it! (or maybe it's just because I'm not a game-aficionado like Uberman!) ;)

(or maybe it's just because I'm not a game-aficionado like Uberman!) ;) Because otherwise the game is very fast paced and fluid. The Combat brings the game to a grinding halt for a few moments while poor Faith has to hide behind a wall and wait for them to get close enough to bop them in the face and run. |

| True dat. The game kind of shifts gears in a really noticable way. It's like 'Now this is a combat section' rather than there being a smooth blend of the two, like delicious bananas in frosty cold milk.
Perhaps I hated the combat even more because I was trying to do it without guns. Why ? Because on the X360 there's an achievement for getting through the game only using hand-to-hand. Yes, I am an achievement whore sometimes.

Yes, I am an achievement whore sometimes. Same here, mate, but I didn't know about that achievement until after the game, so I did use guns! But I've seen the videos on youtube, and the people that have those tutorials on speed runs and stuff, that are really good at moving fast and finding shortcuts etc... They're able to string together combat AND keep their speed... That's what I am trying to master while re-playing the game, cause I'm not using guns this time! ;)

Agreed. The game started great, then went stale very fast.

| I raped him when he was five.
I really liked Mirror's Edge a lot. I didn't even think it was a pure platformer either, so much as a mix of that, and a puzzle game. There were some areas where you really had to think about what you had to do next and plan your moves. Of course, once you had done a few runs and you memorized it all, it lost that aspect but it was still pretty fun.
I especially loved the color scheme. It achieved exactly what it was supposed to. You know exactly where you were supposed to go (unless they purposefully made you find it) and it wasn't ugly or distracting.
Free roaming might be neat, but I didn't really miss it either. I play a lot of adventure games, and sometimes, it's nice to not worry about finding my next target, and to just be "teleported" from level to level.
However, my one gripe is the one that has already been listed. The combat was fucking annoying, and ruined everything that I liked about the game. Although Turtle's comment about seeing people blast through the combat without ever stopping is interesting.
