Someone else mentione dthey'd been playing this, I forget who it was.

I'm working through it now, about a third of the way in. It's a bit of a mixed bag. I like it, but I have a few gripes.

On the plus side, it looks great. The graphics are nice but it's the design that shines through. Post-apocalyptic but in a green, overgrown, pretty way rather than the blasted wasteland of Fallout and co. The environments really are pretty spectacular in places. The gameplay is a mix of platforming, fighting and some shooting. That and protecting a vulnerable second caracter, which feels like an Ico influence. But although protecting characters in games usually sucks ass, Trip is fairly smart and keeps herself out of trouble mostly. And I love that it's a sci-fi retelling of the old Chinese Monkey myth.

The gripes ? For starters it's far too easy so far. The combat is pretty simple, and upgrades are easy to come by. I'm about a third of the way in and I feel like I have about 75% of the useful upgrades already. It's no false modesty when I say I'm not great at fighting games, but I find this to be a breeze so far.

But the biggest gripe by far is the fact that the platforming - probably the major part of the gameplay - is way, way too easy. In fact, you can't fuck up. The game simply won't let you. You can't walk or jump off ledges, the game stops you with an invisible wall. You can't jump where there is no ledge or handhold. You can't drop down where there isn't a platform. In short, it is literally impossible to screw up the platforming. To the point that it doesn't feel like platforming at all, more like simply moving automatically thorugh a linear progression.

I'll keep playing it. It looks nice and has a cool story. But you can't help but see the game it could've been, peeking through the cracks.

Also, Andy Serkis (Gollum) voices the main character.

"A third of the way in?" How far exactly is that? What part are you at?

I really enjoy the game, but I agree with your point about the platforming. I'm not a fan of games taking the Uncharted approach of having press x a lot to navigate completely linear platforming sections that are nigh impossible to fuck up.

Well it's divided into chapters. It looks like there's about 15 and I've completed 5. I just ...

I am disagree.

Finished it. Well worth it, fun from beginning to end and i never got tired of the style. The last level was suitably epic. Nice.

But easy. Real easy. Even in the last couple of levels, even when throwing tons of enemies at you. Just a fairly simple game. Worth it, but easy.

Played the demo. It did seem VERY easy, especially the plattforming. Just "press x to jump from A to B to C". I want plattforming you can fail at. Combat and style looked good though.

Theres a dlc coming, you play as one of the side characthers. Think it has more shooting in it than the origial.
