I'm surprised no one here has played it yet. Or at least, no one has mentioned it. Everything here is shut down for Easter, but I'm going to go and see if I can hunt down a copy tomorrow.

No ? Anybody ? No ?

PostSubject: Its not my kind of game.   Mon Apr 25, 2011 2:50 am

I have never played the first game, andI dont plan to buy this one, even though it seems like a very good puzzle game. If I ever buy it, Ill probably just find a walthrough as soon as I get stuck, witch I definnetly will.

It seems the game has humour, and I aplaude it for that. Not many games pulls that of IMO. The computer thing that talks in the trailers Ive seen make me laugh.

I can't afford 50 bucks just now, I'm waiting until it's a bit less steep. Portal 1 was about 10 or so, this one went about 40 buks over...

Yeah, I have to admit that I was kind of surprised at the price of this bastard, seeing as though the first was pretty much just an experiment they tacked on to the Orange Box. I guess this is what happens when experiments are successful.

Got it, played it. It's awesome.

One of the ways I judge a puzzle game is by how much it can do with limited elements. Anyone can make a tricky puzzle game with 100 different elements. The key to a really elegant puzzle game is to keep the elements few, but require the player to use them in new, interesting, innovative and unexpected ways. Portal 2 is good at this. The concept stays pretty simple, but the ideas and applications get very complex indeed. There's a real sense of satisfaction when it 'clciks', and you see/perform the solution. And it's funny.

BUT

Is it worth $60 ? I say nope. I haven't finished it yet, but I think it's pretty short. I've played 2 sessions so far and I would guess there's another one play in it before it's done. So I'd say it's probably an awesome rental, but paying full price is probably a bit of a ripoff.

Thanks for the expert opinion, I'll wait for a sale :P

Yup, finished it in 3, count 'em, 3 sittings. That's $20 a session. It's a fun ride, to be sure, and there's the whole multiplayer side that I don't mess with. But still ...

I have it now. Loving it so far, it's very fun and very funny, though I'm not finding it quite as immersive as the first. I'm on chapter 6 right now.

I do have one issue though:

Finished it today. I've gotta agree with Uberman, it's surprisingly short. Buy used or wait until the price drops, I say.

Still, great game, very funny (especially the end.) Maybe I'll write a review of it.

For those of you who don't know, Portal 2 is one of the games that are on the massive summer sale on Steam. 33% discount. Many other games new and old goes at a 75% discount. Plenty of good offers!

Oh. I beat this game a while ago, but I guess I forgot to post about it here.

Yea, I really liked it, and yea, as everyone else said, not worth a whopping $60, but still a good game.

The way you beat the final boss is truly genius. I absolutely loved it.

Just started it. Seems nice enough, though I'm more interested in multiplayer.
