Dead Space 2 Empty
PostSubject: Dead Space 2   Dead Space 2 EmptyThu Feb 10, 2011 10:11 am

See : Dead Space 1.

I'm really not sure what they've changed in this sequel. The gameplay seems the same, the weapons and enemies are the same. The setting is similar, but if anything its less scary. This feels more like a level pack than a true sequel, surprising it took so long to come out, it may have been DLC as far as I can see. Not that its bad or anything, just seems like more of the same. Mind you, I'm only a couple of hours in. Perhaps it changes later on ?

I played it and really enjoyed it, surprising because I absolutely couldn't stand the first.

The controls on PC are improved, thankfully for me since DS1 gave me major mouse acceleration problems. The storytelling is also better (though the actual narrative focusing on Isaac Clarke, him being a robot and all, is stupid as shit) and I love the stab the developers took at Christianitology.

I wasn't scared by the first and was even less tense in this one, but seriously, it's not a survival horror franchise, just action with a horror theme like FEAR or STALKER. It's a wimpy little bitch's horror game, but it's a kickass shooter for real men with chest hair. I had a lot of fun.

I played the first game on pc. I thought it was ok. Nothing too bad about it, but nothing amazing either. I downloaded the demo for dead space 2 on my ps3, and it gave me the same feeling.

"Ok, I just got a creepy vision, but I know its just a vision, so Ill just keep walking. Ok, similar enemys as the last game, similar weapons, Ill shoot limbs and hear my charachter scream when he gets hit. Ok, this weapon looks new, Ill use it for a while. Ok, that kills enemys in one hit, too easy. Ok, a boss just grabbed me and I have to shoot the bright yellow part of it. Ok, I have to mash the triangle button to escape this other boss. Ok, demo ends with a jumpscare."

So if I, I dont know, see it for sale on a sale or something I might buy it. Otherwise Ill keep being mildly uninterrested.

My friend also bought this, and I've also been playing it. Actually it's not bad. At least not as an action game. As a horror game it's pretty weak, not unlike the first Dead Space.

Oh yeah, and there's jetpacks, so 10 points for that.
