It looks like CoD except with vehicles and a slightly more interesting setting.

I was hoping it would be a bit more free-roaming. There was a game on the PS2 called Freedom Fighters that was similar, at least in concept. It was obviously inspired by Red Dawn - Russia invades the USA and you are fighting them off. What was cool about it was that you could choose your objectives. Helicopters making a mission hard ? Do another mission first to blow up the helipads. I was hoping Homefront might be somewhat similar.

Im not very interested in this game. It looks very cod to me, but I might be wrong.

So Im not saying I will dodge it completely, but im just uninterested right now.

And I really dont see why I should care about the whole "oh no, America is invaded! Lets kill some commie chinese/russian asholes! FREEDOM! Yay!" Stuff.

Kaos' previous game, Frontlines, had some pretty big levels, so this one might, but it's pretty bad. This looks like Call of Duty so there's probably not going to be large open environments.

Seriously, it's COD.

The setting is different, sure. Kind of. It's set in the near future, so the weapons aren't current weapons. And the game likes to really limit your ammo so you're constantly picking up and changing weapons, kind of like Halo.

Apart from that, it's COD. Even the controls are the same, shooting, grenades, crouching, sprinting, directly mapped from COD controls. All the complaints Sexbad was making about modern shooters in another thread (iron sights, recharge health, corridors with invisible walls) are present.

If you wanted to make COD but couldn't, because someone had already made it, you'd make this.

My friend bought it today, and I played it.

Kinda regret doing that. Played for a few hours and was planning on finishing it out of principle and because I figure it's probably pretty short, but I just don't want to bother anymore. But yeah, it's Call of Duty, if you multiplied every problem I have with that franchise about ten-fold. It's like the developers made a list of every action-game cliche they could think of, and tried to see how many they could fit into one title. Here's but a small taste of said cliches featured in Homefront:

-A completely silent protagonist with a crippling inability to open doors
-Ever present AI team-mates who order you around and who's only real purpose is to rail-road you from set piece to set piece
-A fight in which you shoot rockets at a helicopter
-A token action girl with little-to-no relevance to the actual plot (so far, anyway)
-A brief stealth mission thrown in for the hell of it

I could go on and on, really. Combined with interchangeable guns, interchangeable enemies, unsympathetic characters with ludicrous/suicidal tendencies, no clear goal or point to anything you're doing, et cetera, it makes for a bad game. Do not waste your time on it, because I can assure you, any time spent playing it is exactly that: a waste. Staring at the roof and making popping noises would be more conductive than this.

I gave it another shot. Turns out I was about ten minutes before the end when I quit last time. Short game.

Oh yeah, and the ending blew goats.

Kudos to you finishing it. I got to the bit with the mass grave and cashed in my chips there. For all the reasons you mentioned. I don't like this game, no sir.

You probably won't be surprised to learn that Connor's stupid streak continues until the end of the game, where he "heroically sacrifices" himself for no damn reason at all.
