I don't sleep

I'm incredibly bad at sleeping. Pretty much anything can stop me from sleeping. Any kind of noise, discomfort, you name it. I can't sleep on trains, planes or automobiles.

And then there's nights like last night. I went to bed at a good time, not too early, not too late. I was tired, but not over-tired. I was perfectly comfortable physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I wasn't stressed or thinking about anything in particular. There was no noise, the temperature was fine, all was right in the world.

And I didn't sleep a wink.

This happens to me about once or twice a week, and has done for as long as I can remember. Sometimes a particular thought gets stuck in my head. Lats night I kept thinking about Dark Cloud 2 for some reason, probably because I was playing it earlie rthat day. But I'm not obsessed by that game, I hadn't been thinking about it before I fell asleep.

In all my years with this problem I've never found out what, if anything, causes this insomnia. It seems to be purely random. But it's a fucking frustrating mess when it happens, I tell you.

I'm incredibly bad at sleeping myself. I need a perfectly quiet room with a low temperature. Any sound will likely disturb precious little me when I try to go to sleep. I have to turn electric radiators off, the almost inaudible ticking bothers me, as do mechanical clocks, wrist watches, electric chargers with light diodes (the sound again, not the light) etc...

I'm eternally grateful to my girlfriend for being as quiet as a mouse when she falls asleep.

However, I don't suffer insomnia like you do Uberman. Sounds rough.

Guys, try some warm milk with honey before sleep. Good sedative.
Or try eating something (but not cheese or you'll have nightmares). Or try doing somethng very fucking tireing during the day.

Well, exerting yourself works. Sometimes. I try to play badminton, squash and work out in the gym as much as I can. Not primarily because I have to, but because it's fun. Ok, maybe not the gym part... When I do so on a regular basis I tend to sleep better. But it doesn't change the fact that I still need my bedroom to be quiet and cool to sleep really well.

I think work plays a big part. If I've got a lot of stuff going on and don't feel totally in control, then my sleep is usually the first thing to suffer. And since I often have to juggle several things at once that tends to be most of the time.

A hard working man will never have much rest.
Sad but true.

If there's two things I'm good at, it's drawing and sleeping. My only problem is the "going to bed" part.

I find vodka works even better.

maybe see a doctor, and see if they have any recommendations? There are specialists for this sort of thing.

Aren't there studies being done on this sort of thing anyways? Maybe you can get free diagnosis at a research firm!!!
