Hunted: Demon's Forge Empty
PostSubject: Hunted: Demon's Forge   Hunted: Demon's Forge EmptyTue Jul 05, 2011 8:16 am

What if Marcus time travelled into the past and Dom grew a pair of tits? That’s right folks – Hunted:Demon’s Forge. A bastard child of Gears of War and unknown hooker named – RPG. She was a nice girl until big boys from big companies started nailing her hard. Hunted is a proud child of this cross-breeding with high hopes loud name and absolutely no soul, no matter how hard he tries. The story revolves around two masculine buddies Caddoc (C-Dog) and E’lara ([username]), who got themselves in A great adventure. The background of each of these two brave heroes is very intriguing. Caddoc lost [input your choice here] and E’lara is the last elf, so yes…very intriguing. I ‘m not going to brag about clichés in this game because this game is so full of them that it’s hard to make a dissent review without repeating someone. Voice actors tried to do their job properly but it seems they weren’t paid much. Caddoc sounds like someone is having a hard time in a toilet after eating in McDonalds and E’lara sounds like your neighbor from the next door who always brags about your loud music. Yet there are some moments when voice actors stop slacking off and actually do their job and characters begin to sound like human beings and jokes become really funny.

The plot is boring and repetitive. Caddoc sees a dream where hot chick promises him to divide all his problems on zero so he takes his trusty side kick and goes for it. Well to be specific, goes from A to B to meet C. Now take this little formula and put into different linear levels and you pretty much get most of the game. You must run from point to point to save “a damsel in distress” and only near the end of the game you will get “the great truth”. I really hate when the plot moving device consists of a donkey and a carrot dangling in front of him. This is just cheap. By the way, this game has 3 endings

The gameplay is simple as that. You have Caddoc as a heavy hitter and E’llara as a bipedal bow railgun/bow minigun (depends on your weapon choice) platform with pointy ears. Basically, you can switch from third-person-salsher to third-person-shooter. Cover mechanics didn’t change a bit, Marcus and Dom…I mean Caddoc and E’lara still use that glue to stick to the walls. Pop out, aim, shoot, go make a cup of tea, repeat. Slashing part is a bit more fun then shooting. This is RPG after all so Caddoc has 3 melee skills to deliver justice: rage mode, AoE attack (you lift your enemies and cuddle them until they fall) and dash. E’lara too has 3 skills: armor piercing arrow, explosive arrow, and freezing arrow. Plus , both heroes have 3 same magic spells. That's more than enough to beat the game. The fabled RPG elements include killing enemies and looking for shinies , just to unlock additional mana potion or attack increase, so not much to expect.

If you play on easy you don’t need to worry about tactics at all, just try not to head-butt everything on your way. When you play on normal or hard it gets harder just to rush every enemy, you’ll need to do some basic planning. To launch a spell or to empower your ally, to dash your enemies or to snipe them from high ground. So yes, sometimes this game can actually entertain you. In specific points you’ll be given a chance to use balistas and other stationary weapons of murder to entertain you, but surely it’s not enough.
Oh, this game has dungeons. You know these repetitive, boring corridors with no light, you know, to spook you. Am I right, no? The puzzles are weak and your side kicks’s AI seems to deny even the slightest order like “Stay here”. The rewards for dungeons are mostly boring – just some weapon with temporary enchantment. Their locations are too damn obvious and even ridiculous. Like one time when I took a wrong turn near the docks and bam a forgotten temple…What?

This game has a multiplayer, but I haven’t tried it out yet, so no comments here.

I don’t like to brag abot graphics but it seems like good old U3 engine is getting too old. The textures are all blurry, the colors are too damn brown. The water is nice and main heroes’ equipment looks polished enough but overall…U3, It’s time for you to step aside.

I the end we have an average game in everything and there isn’t much to tell. Hunted:Demon’s Forge could be MUCH better, because it had much potential yet to me it seems wasted.

So overall this is a repetitive, simple, brown and clichéd, yet somewhat entertaining game, that has something to offer if you are going to forgive its' massive flawes
Gameplay: 7/10
Graphics: 7/10
Sound: 6/10
Storyline: 6/10
Re-play capability: no
P.S For gold coins, gathered during you walkthrough, you can build your own dungeon with traps, monsters and all that kind of stuff. This is where you can have some fun.

I'm not telling that it's dead bad. I'm saying that it's too damn average. You can try it if you want. I found some good stuff, but mostly bad. Maybe you will like it more than me.

Funny and informative.

This should be in a real videoreview IMO.
