Bioshock 2 Empty
PostSubject: Bioshock 2   Bioshock 2 EmptyMon Mar 01, 2010 5:49 pm

Let me start off by saying that I'm not a HUGE fan of FPS games. I'll play them, but they have to be really good to keep my attention.

I played the first Bioshock. I thought it was OK. I never really understood why everyone raved about it so much. It was just OK. The atmosphere was cool and original, but things like the hacking game got repetitive and boring, and I got sick of constantly scrounging around for ammo and loot.

Bioshock 2 is ... exactly like the first game. It's fine, but nothing really stands out for me. It's so familiar, I can't imagine why it took them so long to bring it out. Isn't it all just recycled material ? Also, all the impact of the originality of the first game is gone. Rapture is familiar ground now, and it feels less scary now that you're a BigDaddy who belongs there, rather than a frightened intruder.

I'm only a couple of levels in, perhaps there's more later to spice things up. Anyone further in ?

Keep us updated on how long it takes to complete the game, as i've heard it's around 7 hours... Despite how good a game is, being a gaming extremist, I wouldn't be able to buy this, as I would finish it in one sitting. Let us know if those hours are accurate!

The BioShock games look really good, however unfortunately I haven't gotten to play them. My PC is my only machine I have that can play modern games, but in the Bioshock demo I played, I couldn't hear the audio. So maybe when I get something a little better, I'll finally get to play these games.

By the way, I loved the RWEP for BioShock 2. Haha. Sooo funny.

Finished this today.

It was worth it. It does grind on a bit, and you run out of 'new' material long before the end, it's just more of the same, really. Although the end was totally worth it, quite sentimental and a little sad. I played for the 'good' ending as I am a snot-nosed little kiss-ass.

Also

*SPOILER ALERT*

The little sister level was great. Essentially just a short fetch-quest with no real challenge, but seeing the world through her eyes was initially confusing and then awesome once the realisation of what you're seeing sinks in.
