| Hmm...looks pretty cool. I don't know though - Treyarch's games were never really as smooth or polished as IW's. I know it's just a demo, but if you compare this to the airbase infiltration demo in MW2... | |

| New box art. Seems a little tryhard, what with the akimbo 1911's and dual assault rifles. Rolex, too. | |

I appreciate action and all, but after playing through hours of action I just feel numb. There isn't any down-time, and the plots are always dumbed down or neglected in favour of nuclear bombs.
Perhaps they should rename it Call of Kaboom.

Will gun-naming be a part of the customisation of this game ? Can I have an AK-47 called Svetlana and a rocket launcher called Bertha ? And I thought Army of Two was the king of gun-porn.

| Call of Duty is shovelware now. They shovel out a new one every year, like a sports game. This is why it's gone down in quality so much. The multiplayer in MW2 was just a broken mess. There's no chance in my buying this unless it really does something new or has a good story. | |

| So apparently the Prestige edition comes with a RC car that has a camera on it.
I'm not sure, but this all sounds very stalker-ly. "Now I can hide in the bushes outside that pretty woman's house with my night-vision goggles and use my RC to see what's going on inside. " It also bears a vague resemblance to Happy Meal toys.

| I'll probably give it a chance. It's multiplayer can't be worse than MW2. However I'm more of a single player guy anyway. | |

| Eh... Still unsure : / I can just see so many things from that multiplayer trailer going wrong, and having to deal with all these ridiculous glitches like the care-package glitch and the javelin glitch! I think there's a beta, so we'll see how that goes, but I'm kind of over CoD anyways... | |

| I hope to God that you can at least shoot those little RC cars before they get to you. I absolutely hate tiny enemies, and one that is player-controlled and one-hit-kills you is too evil. | |

| RC car WOULD be good at taking out campers though.
Anyway, I foresee gamers making machinimas about racing them. That would be cool.

| Got it. It's like Call of Duty but ...
... actually, there's no 'but'. It's like Call of Duty.
Only about an hour in, so there might be some surprises later on. But somehow I doubt it. Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty, it plays well, etc etc etc. Explosions, shoots, vehicles, grenades. You've played this game already.
Very pretty though. | |

| Just played through the single player and holy shit... The story is good. Hell, it's great. I didn't even know a CoD game could have a story!
also blah blah blah linearity target practice etc etc but that's what you expect CoD to be. Except I've also expected it to have a shit story and not be satisfying at all. What I got was some fun run-and-gunning to the beat of a really, really great narrative.

I KNOW RIGHT? Plot twist at the end only worked so well because we thought "Hey, CoD doesnt have a plot, so I shouldnt worry about the things that dont make sense." But then they did! Which is new to the CoD series! Which is existentially fulfilling! Anyone with Windows XP and an ATI card, that can actually run Black Ops Multiplayer, tell me your secrets. No matter what I do, my entire computer will crash randomly, or after the end of any game. Basically about 2 hours of multiplayer and I have 0 exp, probably disconnected 10+ times... And I cant find a pattern, so I have no idea what's wrong. Ah well. Hope the rest of you are enjoying it.

| Finally finished it. I was playing slowly, one mission ata time in between playing other things.
It was good. I agree, decent story for a COD game. Not exactly Shakespeare but better than most thin FPS game plots.
My only gripe was that the game didn't really ramp up the difficulty. While the ending was fairly epic in terms of content, it was the same room and corridor run and gun shooting that you'd experienced through the rest of the game. I expected more of a big challenge at the end. Not exactly a 'boss fight' per se, but at least a final level that really taxes your skills and sees if you're worth of finishing the game. As it was, the final level was about as hard as any of the otehrs, and I found that a mite disappointing.

I wouldn't exactly count this as a point in the game's favor, but a point against game stories in general. I've played through the campaign, and to be honest my memories of it sort of blur together. An endless series of high-intensity, explosion filled gunfights strung loosely onto a ridiculous conspiracy thriller plot, full to bursting with flag waving american patriotism and a "commies are all evil" message (something I'm not a big fan of, as I've made clear previously,) and populated by a cast of characters that are forgettable at best and unlikable assholes at worst. Let me ask you, what was your favorite aspect of Woods' personality? His affection for headbands? His tendency to roll up his sleeves? Seriously, that's all I can remember about him. The fact that he was named "Character of the Year" on the Spike VGA's would almost be insulting if the VGA's were worth taking the least bit seriously. In all honesty, I didn't think Call of Pacific Salmon was bad, but it's probably the least remarkable game I've ever played, and I'm really not sure why it even exists (aside from the most obvious reason $$.)

Because it's boring. I find myself struggling to cope with the drudgery of the same old bullshit over and over again. For me, it's more of a chore playing than for any real enjoyment.

I bought CoD 4 for singleplayer and multiplayer. Both were great. CoD 5, Singleplayer, zombies, and multiplayer. SP and MP were getting old, zombies was great. CoD 6 for SP, Spec Ops, and Multiplayer. SP and MP were almost annoying, spec ops was great. Cod 7 for SP, Zombies, Multiplayer. SP wasnt completely horrible, MP didnt last a week, zombies were getting old.
