| I just started playing Steam's free weekend of MW2 and found the multiplayer as horrid as the single player (because you know, I *mumble mumble*d the single player part). Two of the maps I've played so far are laggy as fuck and aimbots are rampant. I mean literally, every third bit of killcam footage I was shown had a player automatically aiming at me. I also find the lack of tactics appalling, but tactics never happened outside of scripted events in any of the CoD games. | |

| I have come to a conclusion after having played and will briefly explain my review of it in a fun mathematical manner:
cod 6 = camper of camp aimbot lagfest 2

| Oh, you'll be back. I know you can't stay away from those sweet, sweet eggplants.
Dragons In Space - a pretty damning indictment from you. What, in your opinion, should they do to stop this rampant assholery ? Is it possible, or are online FPS inherently prone to this kind of thing ?

| I've never played another CoD multiplayer than this, but apparently there are less assholes on other games in the series. Games like Counter Strike have that sort of thing going on as well. The reason there are so many cheaters is because the online support for CoD2009 PC is nearly nonexistent. All games are hosted from someone's computer instead of a dedicated server, meaning that however bad that person's connection to the internet is is however bad your connection will be. It still shows you at full bars in the roster, but man, I experienced three cases of game-crashing lag in a row with three bars.
As for how exactly aimbots and wallhacks work, I'm not entirely sure, but plenty of games tend to not have them. It's probably because of the Valve Anti-Cheat thing, because, of course, that's used in Counter Strike: Source, another thing full of angry people accusing others of hacking.
Now, there were a few occasions where the game ran smoothly enough and there were very few aimbotters (some people were complaining, but it was a free weekend so they may just be newbies at this sort of thing, or they may have actually spotted one in their killcam), and I actually had fun. I was staying alive long enough to kill people without being on the receiving end of a lag spike thanks to the host torrenting porn or something, and it was actually pretty neat. But it ended up not being as fun as you got more weapons because they were just so overpowered. I hid behind a copy machine and killed every passerby in two or three hits of an M4, but it felt stale, dicking around being much more fun.

| Assholes are everywhere. No matter which game, forum(except this one of course), or site you go to. There are also dicks who reminisce about the "golden days" of the game/forum/site which are equally as annoying. | |

| Of course, but you must agree that there will be more eleven-year-olds claiming they fucked your mother in, say, Halo, rather than in, say Urban Terror. | |

| The single player was like a Michael Bay movie - all action, rubbish story. It was fun to play, but there wasn't enough substance and length to warrant a purchase.
The multiplayer is a complete mess. Clearly no thought was given to the spawn system. I often spawned, took 2 steps and got killed straight away because the spawn spots are too exposed. The killstreaks and perks are also ridiculously overpowered, so that it becomes completely unbalanced and no one who joins new will be able to have any fun because they'll be constantly raped by people who have unlocked harriers and infrared sights and the rest of it. And whose idea was it to allow you to combine faster movement with increased melee distance? So there are players who can literally stab you from 30 yards away, and otherwise can just spam shotguns in order to rack up dozens of kills while using no skill at all. And the maps are horribly designed. There are way too many camping spots, and sometimes the game is simply unwinable once the enemy has a helicopter or harrier because there's nowhere near enough cover. The game is full of flaws, and the community is more than willing to exploit them.
