Kane and Lynch 2

First new release in ages, seems like.

Pretty standard 3rd person shooter. Doesn't seem to have much in particular going for it or against it.

BUT

It's going for this very realistic film style, so the whole thing looks like it's been filmed on a handycam. Kind of like a reality TV show, but even more amateur. More like someone's following the protagonists with a shitty camera. So lots of lens flare and grainy filters. But not only that, the camera bobs and weaves and shakes a lot. To the point that I actually started to get motion sick after playing for the best part of an hour. I mean, I get the concept, but to me they've taken it a bit too far, to the point where it actually starts interfering with the gaming.

I played the demo. PC mouse smoothing was overkill, AI was dim. It started out in a restaurant where people stormed in for no particular reason and I killed them all. This led us out onto the crowded street after a while. This was a particularly awesome sight what with the camera filters and all. Cops then showed up, stupid as usual AI. Nothing at all about the shooting was special. What was really noteworthy, though, was that everyone, I think, shared three or four models. The streets were crowded with the same four pedestrians. And half of them didn't react to the gunfire going off nearby and just stood there looking smug.

I did like the camera choreography, though. Didn't nauseate me at all, and it did add a visceral feel to the violence.

and it's totally not worth getting in trouble over torrenting it

Legal trouble, but just a little. It jumped the gun and got paranoid about it, but apparently it's nothing.

And use proxy for such things.
