Sucker Punch

Haven't been to the movies in a while but I wanted to see this as I like Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300), good director. So I took the Uberwench and dragged her to the local movieporium.

It's ... OK. It looks absolutely gorgeous as you'd expect. The special effects are great, the directing is totally over the top, MTV, comic book style. Very pretty.

The script, however, is a bit limp. This is (I think) the first movie that Snyder has actually written himself, rather than adapting from a comic book. And it's a bit weak, often feeling like an excuse to string the special effects / action sequences together. But well worth watching at the cinema, it will lose a lot on a smaller screen.

Ive only seen the comercial on TV. I thought it looked like a video game based movie, especially since the story just seems to be about someone gathering 5 items. Why? Comercial didnt say.

What is this (apparently) not-so-good story about then?

This was a bad movie and I feel bad for watching it.

Girl in mental asylum has to escape in 5 days (before lobotomy), and fanatsises her escape plan and the various steps involved as a kind of grand fantasy adventure. But mainly it's there to give an excuse to have chicks in short skirts jumping around and firing guns.

Short skirts you say? AND guns? Sounds great, can't wait to see it!
