| It seems a lot of older games are getting them these days: Shadow of the Colossus/Ico, Halo: Combat Evolved, Beyond Good and Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hills 2 and 3... the list goes on. What's your stance on this trend, and have any HD re-releases in particular caught your eye? Personally, I'm looking forward to Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD. Unlike some of the other games getting the HD treatment, Stranger's Wrath is getting more than just a transfer to 1080p and some high-res textures. They're remodelling the characters and re-recording the audio, and there's a pretty noticeable difference. - Big image:
Oddly enough (no pun intended,) although the original was an XBOX exclusive, the HD version is only going to be available on PSN. Apparently there was some size issue with XBOX Live Arcade. Anyway, that's going to be released in... August, I think it was? Just one more reason it's is going to be an awesome month in gaming.

| I'm fine with it - it ain't hurtin' nobody. And as someone who also has an appreciation for older games it seems like a good way to introduce them to younger players who might have misse dthem the first time around. Beyond Good and Evil is a good example, a game that few young gamers would go back and appreciate on a PS2, but who might discover it in a brushed-up version. Ride on, I say. Ride on. | |

| I don't see what could possibly be bad about making an already great game (or sometimes a nostalgia-inducing game) look better. I just wish they did it to Elite Force. | |

| I have to admit, I've never played neither Beyond Good and Evil nor Oddworld. Are they that good? I just keep hearing about them.
P.S I would like to see MDK 2 HD remake. And Sacrifice.

YES. Also, Stranger's Wrath and Beyond Good and Evil are both awesome games. You can get BG&E HD for $10 on Live and PSN.

| I think that many old games that still are good cant be played by as many since no one owns a ps1 pr ps2 anymore. So its a good idea to release old games for the newer consoles. And making them HD while they are at it doesnt hurt either.
For example, God of war 1 and 2 are still considered good, so you can buy Hd ones at psn. Looks better, got throphys, and more people can play them.

If you're interested it's easy enough to get fullly functional PS1 emulators for the PC that don't even need high specs to run. My doddering old laptop can run PS1 games fine. Also a lot of PS1 games are getting converted for the PSP, but I think this is all non-official fan based work. But yeah, the PS2 is in a kind of limbo whereby the console is not in production but it hasn't been empulated yet, to my knowledge. I just hope all those wonderful, obscure PS2 games are being archived by someone.

| Pcsx 2 is an interesting program for those who have PS 2. They can test games and tweak memory cards. | |

| Shame, the PSP is a great little device. Especially since you could DL games directly from the internet. If you were a no good stinkin' pirate that is. I was 50/50 on getting my PSP and then bought it for myself for a Christmas present a few years ago and it was definitely a good purchase.
Hope they clean up the GOW games for the PS3 though. They released a couple of games on the PS2, notably the GTA games Vice City Stories and such, and without any kind of updating they looked pretty blocky and awful.

| Im actually downloading a God of war 2 HD facelift right now, even if I already own the original on ps2, I think it would be nice to play it without finding and dusting the old girl off.
. Its quite a big download, certainly bigger than anything ive ever downloaded before, so it will probably take days before I can play it.

| I have pretty much finished with God of war 2 now. Its quite a good game still, but then again ive alwayes liked the series. I cant say I see the HD part of it though. It looks pretty much exactly the same as I remember the ps2 version too look.
Theres 2 very small things I would have liked this game to have changed from the "sd" version.
1. The blood looks very bad. Like laghably.
2. The swords on Kratos back are too large. The always seem cut trough his arm. Even in cutscenes.

| Screw HD, I want Beyond Good and Evil 2! And R&C could get a GOW treatment too. ( Ratchet and Clank by the way) | |
