| Been playing on my spare spare spare time, I'm about two hours in.
It's pretty awful. It's very atmospheric, but that's as much horror as it gets. The game focuses on you walking around and solving puzzles.
Only they're not puzzles. It's a bunch of quick time events and stuff where the game bold-facedly tells you what button to push. It's basically about trying to access your neurons that activate when they see someone else get hurt in order to make you feel bad, because it's basically the same level as Mario Party, except with a bunch of death too.

| There's a second one?
Well, self, we have a lot more work ahead of us than we thought.

| The movies are shit too, the first couple where alright, but the last 4 (or whatever) where just basically snuff films. | |

Well, self, we have a lot more work ahead of us than we thought. Yeah, and apparently the second is even worse/more quick-time happy, to the point where the developers completely ditched the combat entirely and turned every fight into a series of button prompts.

I'm pretty sure snuff refers to killing the actors in real life. I haven't seen any of them actually, but I doubt it would be much more than torture porn. Anyway, I want to just because it's probably silly.

| Yeah, I pretty much hated it.
There's these minigame things with a 'Pain' threshold, like digging around in a bunch of syringes for a key. But ... who gives a fuck ? Your character in the game, who you have no real association with, is experiencing pain as shown on some kind of growing meter. It doesn't exactly give a sense of urgency.
I liked the first film. It was made by two guys who went to the same university as I did (not undergrad, got a diploma from there). They made a cheapo version of the film themselves and then sent it around the sudios looking for the budget to get it made 'properly'. Clever idea, and obviously it worked. Then the series went heavily downhill with each iteration. Now there's the 'final' chapter, in 3D ? A Shakespeare wrote, WTF ?
And the game is crap. | |
